You can use ancient coins to buy items from the "special merchants", provided you have the required Visa Level.  The special merchant can be found in the market of each location between 9am and 6pm.  They can be found in Map View with a portrait icon. Different Adventure Rewards can be purchased from the special merchants in each of the three locations (ie. "Carnerlet Nuala Grapes" can only be purchased in France, "Master Thief's Coin" in China, etc.)

Ancient coins are a unit of currency in World Adventures. These coins are found in tombs, either in piles or inside treasure chests throughout Champs Les Sims, Al Simhara, and Shang Simla.

You can use ancient coins to buy adventure rewards from the special merchant NPCs, provided you have the required Visa Level. There is one special merchant in each World Adventures destinations, and you can often find them in their local markets between 9am and 6pm. However, they do roam the map, and they can also be found in Map View marked by a map tag. Better adventure rewards unlock with higher visa levels.
