The Sims 4 auto updates via Origin whenever an update or patch is available. You can choose to turn off game updates but it is not recommended as you will lose online features such as The Gallery and miss out on added features. However, it may be needed to stay on an older patch if you have a computer that has low-end components and is barely running the game or to retain compatibility of your mods.
