so sims2wiki is coming to an end?

Revision as of 13:19, 18 January 2009

2 things.

Firstly, stop putting pages in the root! (ie 2(uploaded). It clutters up the namespace and we have to move things.

Secondly, consolidate your edits. If you make a bunch of edits, use the preview button! I don't want to look at recent changes and see 200+ from you all with really small edits.

If you do not follow these simple rules, you will have your pages removed.

IMPORTANT NOTICE to all "Sims 2 Model" page writers

Sims2Wiki staff will no longer clean up your mess.

All sims 2 show pages must use the Sims Show: namespace - when creating an article, you must name it "Sims Show:Sims 2 Next Top Something", or whatever your show is called.

In addition, there appear to be many versions of these shows. Take a moment to think about whether or not your show's name is unique, and if isn't, make it unique - add "by YourName" to the end of the title, or somesuch.

Any articles created in breach of the above will be deleted. Continual breaking of these rules may result in a ban.

Thankyou to those who have already taken note of the above and are using the namespace correctly.

Final Warning

Continued breakage of the above stated rules will result in a ban. This is your final warning.

- whiterider 15:44, 17 November 2008 (CST)

Please cut down on the save changes!

Use the Preview option to show you how the page will look - I'm seeing edits seconds apart for the same article repeated multiple times.

You KNOW to use the Sims Show namespace

You are well aware of all the rules regarding sims show pages. Start following them, or you will be banned again.

IM sorry

im really sorry, but why did you delete my page??? it took me so long to get my page looking nice and neat!!! pls pls pls get it back

If you mean your user page, then I deleted it because the front page says "do not put these on user pages or anywhere else on the site.".
- whiterider 07:13, 24 December 2008 (CST)

and is there ANYTHING i can do to get it back?

No. You knew the rules and chose to ignore them anyway, so I'm not going to restore it.
Merry Christmas.
- whiterider 12:48, 24 December 2008 (CST)

well ill have to spend my christmas RE building my page for like the third time... well merry christmas to you too.

Absolute last chance

When your current ban expires, go to the Main Page and read the rules. Follow these rules to the letter. They are very simple rules. If you don't understand them, ask for clarification.

You have been warned and reminded of these rules several times, and so far you have continued to ignore them.

If you do not follow these rules upon your return, you will be demonstrating that you don't care enough about having access to this site to warrant us allowing you it. Thus, if you break the rules again, your ban will be permanent.

PAGE EDITING

i have two questions, is my page ok so far? i dont want to make any mistakes seeing that i have no more chances. my second question is, i want to put links to the pages of my series, can i put them on my user page? if i do, how must i? coz i read that i shouldnt put the sims show: thing on my user page. pls answer this

Regarding your first question, which page? Regarding your second question, your user page is about you - your shows are related, so yes you may link them, however the user page is not the place to record information about them.
You are also succeeding at confusing me. You appear to have finally read the rules, and yet right after typing these questions up you went and broke the rules by making another page in root?? Why?

PAGE EDITING

ok forget what i said because now i am confused... im willing to fix everything up if i have the right guidance, im not really familiar with all these internet terms. what is "page in root"? and lets say my page has information on me, can i have links to other pages of my shows? if yes how?

Putting a page in root means it has no namespace - Game Help:, Tutorial: and Sims Show: are all namespaces. So if you just name a page "Sims Bad Reality Show", rather than "Sims Show:Sims Bad Reality Show", you're putting it in root.
Yes, you can. By putting in a link to the page, just like with any link.

PAGE EDITING

ok i get what i did wrong now, i put "The Cosmostar45 Channel" page in root. now i think that this will be my last question before i make my page again. seeing that i have put all the info about my youtube channel on my user page, i CANT put the Sims Show: Shadows In The Dark and Sims Show: Sims Next Top Model links on my user page, right? because it says this in the rules """Be in the "Sims Show" category - that is, links must start with Sims Show: - do not put these on USER PAGES or anywhere else on the site""" if i cant put them on my user page where can i put them, because i definitely want to make the pages for my shows and i want to link them to my user page some how.

You may put LINKS to the various pages from your user page. The front page talks about putting the ACTUAL CONTENT only in the Sims Show category. Delphy 12:17, 9 January 2009 (CST)

PAGE EDITING

ok so if i leave my user page as it is and just add these two links to the pages of my shows

Sims Show: Sims Next Top Model(cosmostar45 version)

Sims Show: Shadows In The Dark

will i be fine?

Yes, that's fine.

Your page will be unlocked...

When you decide to read all of the warnings you have received over time. - whiterider 16:33, 9 January 2009 (CST)

what warnings?

i have read them all, i now know that all links should not be made in root, in other words all links should start with Sims Show: or etc etc. i now know that i should preview a page and then edit anything else before saving and not save every second.... isnt that all?

Yes. It was the last of those that resulting in my locking your page.
-whiterider 04:40, 10 January 2009 (CST)

...

so i was saving too much?

Deleting Pages

ok, i saved all the pages you are about to delete, i agree with you not wanting to clean up after everone elses mess. but what do i do now? will i be able to have the pages of my shows?

I assume you mean you've saved these pages somewhere else - if so, then you'll be able to find another site to post or upload the info to. The copies here will be deleted along with everything else.
