Causes

You get the following error messages when starting Launcher:

  • Launcher showing version 0.0.0.0 after patching
  • "Base Game not compatible with current Expansion Pack."
  • "The version of the game you are running is incompatible with the data. Please update your game."
  • "Sims3Launcher has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
  • "There was an error during startup. See the Log for more details."
  • "This application has failed to start because QtCore4.dll was not found"

Actions

Firstly, if you're using Launcher to update, DON'T! Get the patches from Game Help:TS3 Patching:Patch Download and update manually. There are other suggestions in this FAQ that you might want to try: Game Help:Launcher Issues

Secondly, the other errors are usually due to an outdated EADM or Launcher not recognizing EADM. You need to update and get the latest one, now called Origins.

step 1

Do the FAQ guide in Game Help:TS3 EADM Issues to uninstall and reinstall EADM/Origins.

step 2

  • Make sure, you have at least renamed the DCCache folder in previous page, before attempting to install the item again.
  • If the folder has already been renamed, and previous installation attempts have failed, delete the missingdeps.idx
  • You may also want to recall how to verify a Sims3Pack is installed from previous page.

step 3

After we've done that, load a NEW game to test.

  • Does the content now show up in a new game?
  • You can Quit without saving now.

If when loading a NEW game, the content shows up, try next on one of your save games.

  • Does the content now show up in your save game?
  • You can Quit without saving here, too.

Results

If it does show up, means either the DCCache folder contents have issues, or the outdated EADM was the issue.

Doesn't show up in either a saved game or new game? Go to Next Step.

Next Step

Try this ...

Move DCCache .?bc files to \Mods\DCCache path
