Guide to Children

This guide is all about sim children.

Childhood

Childhood lasts 8 days and revolves around:

  • Learning to study
  • Getting good grades
  • Making friends
  • Building skills
  • Getting Aspiration as high as possible

But whew! Finally your young Sim is fairly independent. They can now bathe themselves, hire services, get snacks from the fridge, order pizza and groceries, and make muffins in the toy oven.

Skills

  • Skills become more important during this stage but are still optional. Children can learn all skills but they can only get Charisma from two Charisma-training career rewards (from the Business and Politics career tracks). Cooking is a bit different, too, because they can't use kitchen appliances. They can use the bookcase or the toy oven to learn Cooking, though.
  • Children can receive help learning a skill on a career reward by a Sim with a higher skill level. They may also have their personality traits altered by being Encouraged by older Sims. The older the Sims and more extreme their personalities, the faster change can be made.
  • What's more important than these basic skills, however, is learning how to study. Having an older Sim help with homework teaches children this skill. Once children learn this skill, they can do homework alone much faster, leaving more time to do other things.

Aspiration Failure

Death

Children -can- die but only from disease, drowning, or fire. They cannot starve to death, though. If children get to the point of hunger failure, they are taken away by the Social Worker.
