Ghosts
This is about ghosts in the sims 2.
What is a ghost?
The general definition of ghost in the dictionary is 'the soul of a dead person, a disembodied spirit imagined, usually as a vague, shadowy or evanescent form, as wandering among or haunting living persons'. In the sims 2, a ghost is where the ghost of a dead sim comes back at night and haunts people.
Different ghost colours?
There are 9 different ghost colours. It depends on how the sim has died. Most deaths just have the normal transparent, floating ghost, but some have different ghost colours:
- Red - the ghost has died in a fire, and there will also be fire as well.
- White - the sim has died from old age.
- Yellow - the sim has died from electrocution, and there will be sparks around the ghost.
- Blue - the sim drowned in a pool, it will also be leaving puddles.
- Green - the sim died from a fatal disease.
- Purple - the sim was eaten by a deadly swarm of flies.
- Orange - a satellite fell on the sim.
- Light green - the sim was eaten by a cowplant.
- Light pink - either a hailstorm killed the sim or they died of fright.
Hauntings
A ghost will haunt if:
- Its urn/tombstone has been vandalised
- Its urn/tombstone is still on the lot where it died
What the ghost does in the haunting depends on whether it is angry. It will get angry for one of the following reasons:
- If they died of starvation and there is no food in the fridge.
- Their old spouse has remarried.
- Their family has moved out.
- Someone has desecrated their grave.
They can do lots of things during hauntings, including:
- Making flowers wilt.
- Turning on TVs or stereos.
- Dining chairs become possessed and begin to float around (even if a sim is sitting on one)
- The toddler's xylophone plays by itself.
- The microwave either floats or opens and closes.
- The surgical dummy (medical career award) floats around.
- Bathtubs fill with water (usually if the ghost drowned)
- The toddler's teddy bear floats and its head spins.
- Table lamps will float, and the ghost might also break them.
- Going up to sims and scaring them, sometimes to death.
Urns and tombstones
If the sim died outside, they will have a tombstone next to their place of death. If they died inside, it will be an urn. You can move the urn outside so it becomes a tombstone, and vice versa. If you are just moving the urn/tombstone for fun, the ghost will probably get angry. If it is desecrated, they will be very angry and there is no solution. However, to stop the urn/tombstone from being desecrated, simply build a fence around the tombstone or put the urn quite high up.
Solutions to angry ghosts
- If they are angry because they are starving and there is no food in the fridge, buy a new fridge or restock the old one.
- If their spouse remarried, the solution is to break the new couple up.
- If the ghosts family moved out, move at least one of them back in as soon as possible.
- There isn't a solution if the grave has already been desecrated, but you can build a fence round the grave or put an urn on a shelf high on the wall so it can't be reached.
FAQs
When do ghosts haunt?
Usually, between the nighttime hours (8pm-6am).
Can I get rid of my ghosts but keep the tombstones?
Yes, you can use the 'move_objects on' cheat to delete the ghosts, and they won't bother you unless you quit the game and then go back in, and then you'll have to do it all over again when you go back.
A gold tombstone? How/why?
If your elder sim died of old age with a platinum aspiration, not only will you get the grim reaper and hula girls, and also inheritances, you will also get a gold tombstone.
