Overview

This tutorial is not specific to The Sims 2, but does show handpainting a simple texture for a low-poly 3D model, and shows how that flat texture wraps onto the mesh. Notice how the part, bangs, highlights and shadows work on the flat graphic and then wrap on the 3D mesh.

Prerequisites

This tutorial is not specifically for Sims 2 and is just about the texturing itself, nothing else. It is not a beginner's tutorial. If you have never done hair before, you really should start with clothing.

For a basic explanation of how to recolour hair including sorting out the different files, you'll need a more basic, Sims 2 specific tutorial.

Followups

For more techniques and tricks for creating hair textures, we have links to other tutorials available.
