I'm no longer prompted to save my files where I want!

This has NOTHING to do with Sims 2, but since we are all downloadaholics, I thought it would be nice of me to share the way to fix this.

Symptom

When right-clicking on a file to save or just clicking on a file to save, you are no longer prompted with a window to save your file wherever you want on your computer. It looks like it's downloading, but you have no idea where.

Answer

It is being downloaded to your Temporary Internet Files folder, but who wants to wade through all that junk!

The Fix

  • Open up My Documents
  • Click on Tools
  • Click on Folder Options
  • Click on File Types tab
  • Search for type of file you're downloading - either .zip or .rar or .sims2pack, etc
  • Click on Advanced button
  • See "Confirm open after download" - It should be checked - UNCHECK IT - then click OK
  • Then CHECK "Confirm open after download" again - then click OK

Close all windows and try downloading again. You should be prompted to ask where you want to save your download again.
