[edit] Resurrection using Resurrect-O-Nomitron

In order to resurrect your Sim this way, you will need The Sims 2 University expansion pack. This object is found under Carrer Rewards (reward for level 5 paranormal carrer). You can also use a cheat to unlock the career rewards to make it faster to obtain the object.

Your Sim will need to know the dead Sim that you want to bring back. A tombstone of the dead Sim must still exist somewhere in the neighborhood.

Click on the Resurrect-O-Nomitron and Call Grim Reaper. Then, he'll ask you to pay him certain amount of Simoleans. Below is the guide.

Amount Spent Result
1 - 987 Failed resurrection. Amount spent is lost.
988 - 4127 Sim comes back as a zombie.
4128 - 8512 Sim returns as a normal Sim, but they lose skill points and have a reverse personality.
8513 - 10000 Perfect resurrection. The Sim returns exactly as they were before, with the same personality and skill points.

[edit] Resurrection using Genie's Wish

In order to resurrect your Sim this way, you'll need The Sims 2 FreeTime expansion pack. Build up your Sim's enthusiasm. Once you've got enough enthusiasm in a certain area, the gypsy matchmaker is going to deliver you the genie lamp. Direct your Sim to rub the lamp.

Ask the genie to resurrect a Sim. Note that the Sim you're controlling must know the dead Sim.

Warning: There's always percent chance that the Sim resurrected will come out as zombie (if the wish fails).

[edit] Resurrection using Evil Witch's Spell

In order to resurrect your Sim this way, you'll need The Sims 2 Apartment Life expansion pack. Make your Sim an evil witch (warlock). Then, using the spellbook, study the path of darkness. Once your Sim reaches level 9 magic skill (use the Check Abilities to check on your magic skill), your Sim should learn the Vivificus Zombiae spell.

Once your Sim knows the spell, click on the dead Sim's tombstone, and then "Cast Spell > Vivificus Zombiae".

Warning: this method will always return the dead Sim as a zombie.

[edit] Resurrecting Sims in manual way
