Athletic Skill

Teens, Young Adults, Adults and Elders can gain the Athletic Skill. The Athletic Skill can be improved by using the benchpress machine, the treadmill, working out with a TV or stereo, jogging (after reaching Athletic Skill level 1), tossing the football or baseball, and swimming. You can attend an Athletic Skill class at the Stadium, or exercise at the Gym or a community pool, if you do not have enough money for exercise equipment at your sim's home.

With the World Adventures EP, you can also improve Athletic Skill by clearing piles of rubble in tombs or practicing martial arts.

Athletic Skill and weight are not tied to one another. You can be overweight and still have high Athletic Skill level (if you over-eat or do not exercise for a long time). Children can modify their weight by working out with a stereo or TV, or swimming, but cannot gain Athletic Skill points. Sims with the Athletic personality trait will gain Athletic Skill level quicker than those who do not.

Exercise with the TV or stereo can be performed as either cardio or strength workouts. Cardio workouts (which also include jogging and swimming) will help your sim lose weight. Strength workouts will improve their muscle tone.

Athletic Skill is valuable for those in the Criminal, Law Enforcement, Military and Professional Sports career tracks.
