Plant Sims

This guide is all about plant sims in The Sims 2 Seasons.

Plant sims are the supernatural species in EP5: Seasons. By default, they are green with swirly twining vines all over their skins, yellow eyes, and plant hair. They also wear natural clothing.

Plant Sim Needs/Motives

Plant Sims have three unique needs/motives:

Sunlight

The Sunlight Need is satisfied by being exposed to either real or artificial daylight. The main source of satisfying this need is being outdoors during daylight (7am - 7pm). Natural sunlight satisfies the sunlight need faster than artifical, but is slowed in cloudy or stormy weather. After sunset/during bad weather, you can equip their homes with The Toasty Garden Lamp sans Toast, which is in Build Mode/Garden Center/Gardening for 2,000 simoleons.

Water

A Plant Sim's water need is similar to a sim's hunger need. Without regular exposure to liquid, they will wilt and die. They're not limited to consuming the liquid, though. Anything that puts them in contact with liquid will satisfy this need. (This is obviously different for toddlers and adults, as toddlers can't do as much on their own).

Adults:

  • Drinking juice/lemonade/water
  • Playing in the rain puddles
  • Playing in Wet n' Wild Water Wiggler
  • Water balloon fight
  • Rain
  • Showering/bathing
  • Soaking in hot tubs
  • Swimming
  • Water balloon prank

Toddlers:

  • Being bathed
  • Drinking from a bottle
  • Eating flowers
  • Playing/sitting in puddles
  • Playing in the toilet
  • Sitting in the rain

Love

Love is the Plant Sim's need for interaction with other sims and works exactly the same as a sim's Social need, with all the same interactions. Love can also be gained by using the Talk To interaction with orchard trees and fruits and vegetables growing in a garden plot.

Plant Sim Perks

  • Plant sims automatically get a gold badge in gardening, making them incredibly good at tending to your garden.
  • Plant sims can't die of heatstroke because they have a unique internal temperature that prevents them from entering the Very Hot level. So, they can enjoy themselves outside all summer and never worry about overheating.
  • When they're in a good mood, they can emit "spores of happiness", which will cause a noticeable satisfaction to any nearby sims' Hunger, Comfort, Energy, Fun, and Social needs.

Becoming a Plant Sim

The way one becomes a plant sim through gameplay is through gardening. Becoming a plant sim while gardening is fairly rare.

  • First, adult or elder sims must have sprayed pesticides 10 times on plants on that particular lot. Then, every time you spray after that, there's a 10% chance of your sim being turned into a Plantsim.
  • Basically, you must be abusing pesticides for this to happen.
  • It may be easier on premade Maxis lots like the Greenmans as the lot's preexisting "pesticide abuse level" may already be high enough to provide the 10% chance of going Plant.
  • For a much easier way to become a Plantsim, get Wintermuteai1's PlantSim Mod, which is a potion which will let your sim instantly become a plant sim.

Curing Plantism

Curing PlantSim-ism is very easily done. Just use the telephone to call the Garden Club or the Gypsy Matchmaker (both under the Services menu) to buy the antidote, Plantophic-C, for only 60 simoleons. Only adults and elders can drink Plantophic-C. Toddlers must wait until they grow up.
