Game Help Talk:Change Game Language

From SimsWiki
Jump to: navigation, search

I've found out that the game languages use different codes than the ones used in normal Text Lists.

After some testing, I have found these game language codes:

  • 00 = (Unused)
  • 01 = English US
  • 02 = French
  • 03 = German
  • 04 = Italian
  • 05 = Spanish
  • 06 = Swedish
  • 07 = Finnish
  • 08 = Dutch
  • 09 = Danish
  • 0A = Brazilian Portuguese
  • 0B = Czech
  • 0C = (Unused)
  • 0D = (Unused)
  • 0E = Japanese
  • 0F = Korean
  • 10 = (unused)
  • 11 = Simplified Chinese
  • 12 = Traditional Chinese
  • 13 = English UK
  • 14 = Polish
  • 15 = Thai
  • 16 = Norwegian
  • 17 = Portuguese

Any "Unused" or non-existent code defaults to "English US"

Different location for values on 64-bit systems

I wasn't able to find the values to change the language like the guide instructed me to, so I thought I'd write how I found them on the talk page. If you have a 64-bit system, your Sims 2 values might be "hidden" under Wow6432Node.

The way to find the values is a bit longer, but easy when you know where to look:

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
  • SOFTWARE
  • Wow6432Node (This is the additional step.)
  • EA GAMES (All the expansions are here as well, remember to change the values of those too!)
  • The Sims 2
  • 1.0

If somebody with permissions could edit the tutorial to add information about the location for 64-bit systems, I'd be very happy. --Chippyri 10:55, 16 August 2012 (EDT)

Done! Thanks for noticing and bringing it up. :)
