Installing Custom Content for The Sims 3

How do you install custom content for the Sims 3? This guide will show you how to do it, step-by-step. Installing content is very easy and straightforward - the basic three steps apply:

  1. Download item
  2. Extract item
  3. Place (install) item

What's with the name?

No! No! It is not meant as an insult, we just like the acronym "DFDD". It is just meant to differentiate from TS2's version of DFFI for "beginners" and DFFG for the "tech-heads"

And the Sims 3's DFSS for the "tech-heads"

Before you download

Before you go on a downloading spree, be sure to read these pages. They are basic info that you need to do or learn about only once, most of the time.

Getting it all Organized

Organizing content is crucial! Sooner or later there will be a piece of item that you no longer want or is causing issues. If everything is well organized, .package content is very easy to maintain.
