Parties

This guide is all about throwing great parties in The Sims 2.

Inviting Sims

By default, you probably won't be able to invite many sims to your parties. The game scales the number of sims you can invite based on your computer, but it often scales it pretty low - so even though you can handle more sims you'll only be able to invite 2 sims.

There is, however, a cheat to help you with that:

However, you really don't need to have many people at the party to have a successful one. In fact, it may be easier and more effective to just invite a single sim!

Make sure whoever invites people over has a good relationship with them - getting turned down for party invites tends to negatively effect your party score.

Before the Party Starts

Do some preparation before your guests arrive to ensure everything runs smoothly...

  • Buy some of the items listed below under "successful parties" if you don't already have some.
  • Prepare at least one plate of filling, good food - your guests shouldn't have to eat cookies out of your fridge.

Successful Parties

The main factor that contributes to a successful party is social interactions! Social interactions, social interactions, SOCIAL INTERACTIONS!!!

Get your sims together in groups, doing group activities, and you're bound to have successful parties. Here is a list of good activities for parties:

  • Admiring
  • Bar Drinking
  • Bubble Blower (University)
  • Champagne Drinking
  • Gossiping
  • Fighting (yeah, really!)
  • Hot Tubbing
  • Hugging
  • Kissing
  • Pool Playing (University)
  • Stereo/Radio Dancing
  • Talking
  • Woohoo

You do want to tend to stay hovering with your guests, mingling and being social, but remember to give them time to eat and use the bathroom. If they have to go too bad, or are too hungry, they'll just leave, and your party will be a disaster!
