Skill
The Athletic skill charts the physical prowess and stamina of a sim. Sims can improve their Athletic skill in a wide range of ways, including using numerous objects and participating in numerous activities. These include using the benchpress machine, the treadmill, working out with a TV or stereo, jogging (after reaching Athletic Skill level 1), tossing the football or baseball, and swimming. You can attend an Athletic Skill class at the Stadium, or exercise at the Gym or a community pool, if you do not have enough money for exercise equipment at your sim's home. With World Adventures, sims also improve Athletic skill by clearing piles of rubble in tombs or by practicing the Martial Arts skill.
Athletic skill and weight are not tied to one another. Sims can be overweight and still have high Athletic skill level (if they over-eat or do not exercise for a long time). Children can modify their weight by working out with a stereo or TV, or swimming, but cannot gain Athletic Skill points. Sims with the Athletic personality trait will gain Athletic skill levels faster than those who do not. Generally, with a few exceptions, sims will get the Fatigued moodlet from prolonged exercise. This moodlet blocks further Athletic activities for its duration. Exercise with the TV or stereo can be performed as either cardio or strength workouts. Cardio workouts (which also include jogging and swimming) will help your sim lose weight. Strength workouts will improve their muscle tone.
Athletic skill is valuable for those in the Criminal, Law Enforcement, Military and Professional Sports career tracks.
Sims with high Athletic skill have less chance of vomiting on the ElectroDance Sphere from Showtime. When two sims pillow fight the bigger the difference in Athletic skill, the higher the chance the more skilled sim will wallop the less skilled sim.
