Using Photoshop CS4 to view Recolours in 3D EASY
A. Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended (You can just download the free 30-day trial)
B. SimPE

It's basically a 2-step process unlike these other programs that make it complicated. Adobe is a pricy program if your interested in buying but they welcome you to the free 30-day trial with no restriction's, immediate download and simply expires and stops working after 30-day's

Load up Sims PE and your cloned or recolored objects. This tutorial mainly covers loading, viewing and tweaking within Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended and really it's faster and better to edit the entire 3-D object in Adobe Photoshop CS4 optionally

You need a model so if it's a recolour simply:

1. Clone the object your recolouring unchecking all clone options
2. Click Geometric Definition's (You may need a special one-time direct x download completely free to view and export objects)
3. Click the first file if it isn't already selected
4. You should see a long list with check boxes and some already checked so click preview and wait for the object to appear
5. When it appears you can optionally right-click and drag to rotate object but has no purpose, simply export as Wave Front Object (.obj)
6. Simply open Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended and click file >> open and select the object you just exported

Now you have a basic model that you can rotate around, but let's get to your recolor

Step 1: You should see a window that has diffuse written on it, next to it, next to it a shade of gray and an icon, click that icon and click load
Step 2 Select your recolor that you made and load it

Instantly the Model is colorized to your recoloring where you additionally have the advantages of all the features of Photoshop, click on that icon again and click open to edit like a 2-D image then above you there will be a tab you click and the 3-D model is updated
Adobe Photoshop CS4 can also paint directly onto the model skipping the entire UV and 2-D idea but I found it best for Sims 2 Models to still use the 2-D images.
Photoshop may be a little more advanced but is really easy and much more control, on the toolbar in the 3-D model you'll see a ball with arrows coming around it near the very bottom above the color, click one of them to simply rotate
You'll definitely find this much better than these other programs,
Also works great for those who want to to color a custom mesh or color a cloned maxis item, but best use the original texture as image optionally to base your design on

Additional Notes
If you custom designed the mesh you can import into Photoshop CS4 and literally just start painting on the model or the 2-D image as explained above
If your using a cloned object it works like custom meshes, the steps at the beginning are for recolours but if it's cloned it's best to export the starting texture if you don't already have one instead of texturing from scratch in Adobe
